The company works in a very close cooperation with its clients in order to design custom made cyclone systems that really solve their unmet needs. ACS has grown to be a turnkey project provider in any part of the world, whenever cyclones are part of the solution. Regular cyclones and multicyclones, if used as final dedusting system, are frequently not able to comply with current emission limits. History
ACS was founded in 2008 by Romualdo Salcedo (CTO) - Professor at Faculdade de Engenharia da Univerdade do Porto (FEUP) and by Pedro Araújo (CEO), Industrial Engineer from FEUP and MBA from the Lisbon MBA, with the financial support of Armilar Venture Partners SCR.
The founders thank the contribution of the CoHitec program, promoted by Cotec – a Portuguese institutional innovation association, for the elaboration of the first business plan, the establishment of the company and capital raise.
Back in 2008, Romualdo’s prototypes had been working for years without any maintenance in the cork and wood industries for particulate emission control in biomass boilers and complying with strict emission limits. These good results, together with many satisfied customers led the founders to establish ACS, aiming to bring cyclones to the whole world.
With an international focus and diverse application fields, ACS is the only company worldwide exclusively dedicated to cyclone systems and uses this technologic platform to solve particle separation problems in several industries.
Presently, ACS has 15 employees in Portugal and 3 in Brazil but presenting a strong network of agents and representatives worldwide. ACS fulfilled over 350 successful installations in 37 countries.

Through innovative simulation models which incorporate the concept of particle agglomeration and numerical optimization of geometries, we create customized cyclones, giving guarantees of high efficiency and performance.
Where Are We
Distribution is ACS' biggest challenge and its strategy varies according to each market segment.
It is from Porto (Portugal) that ACS exports its technology to the whole of Europe. In projects for other continents, part of the production is transferred to the partner-manufacturer that is closer to the installation premises. ACS celebrates commercial agreements and joint ventures with complementary equipment suppliers, such as boiler and dryer manufacturers, or large engineering companies and contractors.
All the manufacturing stages are closely controlled by ACS. Each material is selected according to each system application, and this follow-up allows not only to optimize the cyclone, but also the construction, assembly and transportation of each unique part, to all around the world.
